***BY: ESTANISLAO ALBANO JR.**** TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The remaining SONA (state of the nation address) projects in the province with a total worth of P2.1B that includes the widening and pavement of the Bontoc-Tabuk-Tuguegarao Road from Tinglayan to Bulanao, this city, and the replacement of the 50-year old Canao Bridge will not be finished at the end of this month, the advance deadline set by Malacañang in July. TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Still locked in an electoral case at the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET), incumbent congressman Manuel Agyao (Lakas-Kampi-CMD) and James Bejarin (LP), a son in-law of former congressman Lawrence Wacnang, will fight it out for the lone congressional seat of this province in the coming elections. But unlike in 2007 when there were three other candidates, this time the two will have the electoral ring all to themselves. Alleging fraud in certain precincts in Upper Kalinga, Bejarin lodged an electoral protest against Agyao with the HRET in 2007. The case remains pending. The gubernatorial contest is a free-for-all among incumbent governor Floydelia Diasen (Lakas-Kampi-CMD), incumbent vice governor Jocel Baac (PMP), former governor Macario Duguiang (NPC) and former Army officers Dante Langkit (Independent) and Conrado Dieza (LP). |
