Through an executive order, Kalinga Provincial Governor Floydelia Diasen has directed all government agencies, local government units, non-government organizations and various sectors in the province to participate in the activities scheduled from February 11 to14 this year. Designed for the preservation, enhancement and promotion of the rich culture of the Kalinga people, the event will be highlighted with the agro-industrial trade fair where local arts, crafts and processed products will be featured making the affair not only a good place to shop for souvenir items but a place to learn Kalinga’s traditional arts. As a rendezvous for the eight municipalities’ cultural festivals, the event will also showcase each town’s unique culture and traditions while ethnic groups permanently residing in the province are also encouraged to join and participate. Another highlight is the cultural street and float parade featuring the colorful Kalinga dances and local products. While lined up activities for the evening activities include the Search for Miss Kalinga and the Valentine and Laga Show. Since its separation from Apayao province on February 14, 1995, the provincial government of Kalinga has institutionalized the Ullalim Festival as an annual event to promote and develop the province as a tourist destination. ** |
